FamilyBushes

AI genealogy assistant

Turn old records into a family tree, with AI

Describe your family or upload photos of handwritten records, letters and documents. The FamilyBushes assistant reads them, finds every person, date and relationship, and builds your tree — you review every change before it is applied.

Reads handwriting

Photos, PDFs and GEDCOM

You approve every change

Everything a genealogist does by hand, faster

The assistant works inside your family tree: it reads, builds, edits, searches and checks, and leaves the decisions to you.

Reads handwriting and old documents

Birth, marriage and death records, church books, census pages, letters and handwritten notes. Everyone mentioned comes out with names, maiden names, dates, places and relationships.

Builds the tree for you

Describe your family in a sentence or two and get the people, parents, children and spouses connected. Unknown details stay empty for you to fill in, never guessed.

Edits in plain language

“Add my dad's three children from his first marriage.” It finds the right people — even “my dad” or “grandma” — and prepares the change.

Searches and explains

How are two cousins related? Who was born in the 1880s? Forgiving search finds people despite misspellings, missing accents and partial dates.

Finds gaps and inconsistencies

Missing birth dates, people without parents, duplicates and impossible dates, with a clear list of what to research next.

Files photos and documents

Portraits become profile photos and certificates become attachments on the right people. GEDCOM files import as a new tree in one click.

Try it with your own family

Pick an example to start from, or write your own above. Add a photo of a record to see it read.

Built for genealogists and family historians

Research is the interesting part; retyping names from scans is not. The assistant takes care of the slow work — transcribing, matching people across documents and checking the tree for gaps — so you can spend your time on the research itself and on the stories behind the names. Your tree stays a real, interactive family tree you can share with relatives by link and keep editing by hand.

Transcribe old handwriting, in many languages and scripts, into structured people and events

Turn a pile of scans into a connected tree instead of retyping every name

Keep sources: certificates and photos stay attached to the people they are about

Ask questions across hundreds of people in plain language

Export everything as GEDCOM or .fbft whenever you like

Stop retyping old records

A single page of a church book can name a dozen people: parents, children, godparents, witnesses, with dates and villages. Instead of copying every name by hand, photograph the page and let the assistant read it — faded handwriting included. Everyone in it becomes a person or an event in your tree, and the photo stays attached as the source, so you can always check the original.

Questions

Yes. Upload a photo or scan of a birth, marriage or death record, a page from a church book or census, or a handwritten family note, and the assistant reads the old handwriting and printed text and turns the people in it into suggested changes to your tree. Old handwriting can be hard to read, so it notes anything it was unsure about, and you check every change before applying it.

No. It prepares changes — new people, relationships, names, dates and life events — and shows them to you first. Nothing changes until you press apply, and you can adjust anything before saving.

You can write to it in your own language and it answers in the same language. It also reads records written in many languages, and FamilyBushes itself is available in English, Lithuanian, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Finnish and Turkish.
