What is FamilyBushes.com?

FamilyBushes.com is a free, browser-based family tree editor. It was built for anyone who wants to document their family history without dealing with paywalls, mandatory registrations, or data being stored on someone else's servers. You open the editor, start adding people, and everything is saved privately on your own device.

Why we built it

Most family tree tools available today require you to create an account before you can do anything. Many lock their best features behind subscriptions. We believe that preserving your family history is too important to be gated behind a sign-up form or a monthly fee.

FamilyBushes.com was created to be the family tree tool we wanted to use ourselves: fast, private, capable of handling extended families with hundreds of people, and free to use without any catch.

What makes it different

• No registration required. Open the editor and start immediately.
• Your data stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server. Family trees are stored in your browser's local storage and photos in your browser's IndexedDB.
• Export and share with one file. The .fbft export bundles your entire tree — people, events, and photos — into a single file you can share with relatives or keep as a backup.
• Extended families work naturally. The editor is built for large, complex trees with multiple marriages, blended families, and many generations.
• Events on a map. You can pin geographic locations to life events and view your entire family's history on an interactive map.
• Multiple languages. The editor is available in English, Lithuanian, and Russian.

Who is behind it

FamilyBushes.com is an independent project built and maintained by a small team. It started as a personal project to document a family tree that had grown too complex for spreadsheets and paper, and turned into a tool that others could use too.
